Embracing Change at Noordgesig Primary School

For decades, Noordgesig Primary School stood as a center of learning and community in Soweto, even though its original structure was built with asbestos – a material once common in older buildings but later found to be hazardous to health. This presented challenges not only for the safety of learners and staff, but also for the school’s ability to offer a modern learning environment. In recent years, the Gauteng Department of Education embarked on a project to replace the asbestos building with a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility. The result is a multimillion-rand investment in the future of the Noordgesig community – a safe, modern, and fully equipped school that reflects the value placed on education and the well-being of every learner. This transformation is more than just bricks and mortar. It symbolizes progress, opportunity, and the power of change to open new doors. The launch of Noordgesig Primary’s new website continues this journey, ensuring that communication, resources, and school achievements are accessible to parents, learners, and the wider community. Change has always been part of growth. At Noordgesig Primary, we are embracing it – from the classrooms we teach in to the way we connect with the world.
