Our Hero

⭐ Hero: Timothy Kunene

Role: Entrepreneur– 2025

Story:

Timothy Kunene – Turning Challenges Into Opportunities

Every community has people who stand out — not because they seek attention, but because their work shines through service. Mr. Timothy Kunene is one of them.

Timothy’s story begins in KwaZulu-Natal, where he grew up and went to school. Like many young South Africans, he moved to Johannesburg in search of work, trying everything from self-employment to full-time jobs. When COVID-19 struck in 2020, he lost his job — but instead of letting hardship define him, Timothy made a bold decision: he would create opportunities instead of waiting for them.

That decision gave birth to a mobile car wash business unlike any other. With buckets, determination, and faith, Timothy began washing cars wherever people parked them — at companies, at schools, and eventually here at Noordgesis . What started as survival has grown into a trusted community service.

But Timothy is no ordinary car washer. His work is infused with integrity, vision, and charisma. He reminds his staff that even something as small as a sweet left in a car belongs to its owner. “We are not doing anyone a favor,” he says. “We are providing a professional service, and honesty is the foundation.” Teachers now drive home in spotless cars while focusing on their true mission: educating children.

And Timothy didn’t stop there. Alongside car washing, he expanded into tax services and helping people register their businesses. For him, it’s about more than earning a living — it’s about empowering others to stand on their own feet. He mentors aspiring entrepreneurs, proving that success is not only possible, but repeatable if you work with passion and integrity.

His dream is to see his water-saving car wash model across South Africa. Unlike traditional washes that waste over 150 liters per car, Timothy’s method uses only 25 liters — sometimes none at all, thanks to innovative waterless products. It’s practical, it’s eco-friendly, and it’s visionary.

When asked what it means to be called a hero, Timothy smiles and shakes his head: “I am just a humble servant of the community. Whatever I have done is what I ought to have done.” Yet his impact is undeniable. To the teachers, he is a partner. To the youth, he is a role model. To the community, he is family.

Timothy’s charisma shines in his message to young people: “Focus on your studies, respect your teachers, and dare to think differently. Challenge the status quo.” It’s this spirit of innovation and resilience that carries him forward, whether washing cars, registering businesses, or filing taxes.

Today, Timothy is more than an entrepreneur — he is a builder of trust, an innovator, and a giver. On our Wall of Heroes, his story reminds us that greatness isn’t about titles or wealth, but about service, character, and the courage to create opportunities that uplift others.
